The primary objective of this scan is:
- To verify fetal presentation (the position of baby in the womb)
- To estimate fetal weight with baby’s measurements
- To demonstrate placental site.
Determine the wellbeing of your baby from 35 weeks and confirm their sex; with a free 4D preview included! We always aim to provide you with a fun and friendly experience, whilst only ever performing your scan by a qualified, experienced, and registered obstetric sonographer.
Scan length: 10 minutes
Appointment duration: 15 minutes

Rescans:
We can offer complimentary gender reveal of the baby however, it’s not always possible during this late stage of pregnancy, but if your baby is in a favourable position we can do this free of charge. As this is not the primary purpose of the scan, we cannot offer a free rescan if we are unable to*.
Please note:
- We are only able to provide scans to persons over the age of 18.
- The video recording has no audio capability.
- Bring up to six guests to your scan, including children.
*At the manager’s discretion, T&Cs apply. You can also view baby in beautiful 4D with our 4D Freeview option and receive thermal black and white 3D prints at no extra charge. If your baby’s position does not offer a good view on the day, we cannot offer a free rescan as this is not the primary purpose of the scan.
Preparing for your Wellbeing & Full Term Presentation Scan
You must attend your routine scans with the NHS.
You can prepare for your gender scan by ensuring that you are properly hydrated in the 24 hours prior to your appointment. Please arrive to your appointment with a full bladder.
This is a 15 minute appointment. Please ensure that you arrive 10 minutes early for your scan in order to complete the necessary paperwork. Failure to do so may result in your appointment time being reduced.
Please bring your pregnancy notes with you. We may not need them, but it is helpful if our qualified Sonographers need to refer to them at any stage during your gender scan.

Hey Baby 4D Sunderland is located at Unit 2, Baird Close, Washington NE37 3HL, within a small business park just off the A1231 Sunderland Highway. Our clinic is on the ground floor with step-free access, making it easy to visit with prams and wheelchairs.

Our clinic is easily accessible from the A1(M), A19 and A1231, making it convenient for families travelling from across the North East.
Free parking is available close to the clinic, allowing easy access for your appointment.
We regularly welcome families from Washington, Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle, Chester-le-Street and Durham.
By Train / Metro 🚆
The closest major stations are Heworth Interchange and Pellaw Metro Station, both approximately 10–12 minutes by taxi from the clinic and well connected across Tyne & Wear.
By Bus 🚌
There are frequent bus services along the A1231 Washington Highway, with stops located a short walk from Baird Close, connecting the clinic to Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle and surrounding Washington areas.
