Our early reassurance scan is designed to check your baby’s wellbeing and provide you with peace of mind from as early as 6 weeks gestation, through to 16 weeks. We always aim to provide you with a fun and friendly experience, whilst only ever performing your scan by a qualified, experienced, and registered obstetric sonographer.

Scan length: 10 minutes
Appointment duration: 15 minutes
What’s included with your Early Reassurance Scan:
- 10 exclusive minutes with our qualified sonographer where you can ask any questions you like!
- Locate your pregnancy
- See your baby’s heartbeat
- Date your pregnancy – to confirm how far along you are
- Confirm single or multiple pregnancies
- A wellbeing check will be performed to review your baby’s progress
- Receive a scan report & wellbeing form which includes your placenta position
- 2 x black and white prints to take home
- Digital download of all images taken during the scan

Please note:
- We are only able to provide scans to persons over the age of 18
- The video recording has no audio capability
- Bring up to six guests to your scan, including children.
You must still attend your 20 week scan with the NHS.
Preparing for your early Reassurance scan
You must attend your routine scans with the NHS.
You can prepare for your early reassurance scan by ensuring that you are properly hydrated in the 24 hours before your appointment. Please arrive with a full bladder.
It is sometimes necessary during the earlier stages of pregnancy to offer an internal scan. This is because it can be difficult to see the fetus via the abdomen at this stage. Many factors influence this (including hydration). Please ensure you arrive for your scan with a full bladder. As with all of our scans, you have the right to stop the procedure at any time.

Hey Baby 4D Sunderland is located at Unit 2, Baird Close, Washington NE37 3HL, within a small business park just off the A1231 Sunderland Highway. Our clinic is on the ground floor with step-free access, making it easy to visit with prams and wheelchairs.
By Car 🚗
Our clinic is easily accessible from the A1(M), A19 and A1231, making it convenient for families travelling from across the North East.
Free parking is available close to the clinic, allowing easy access for your appointment.
We regularly welcome families from Washington, Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle, Chester-le-Street and Durham.
By Train / Metro 🚆
The closest major stations are Heworth Interchange and Pellaw Metro Station, both approximately 10–12 minutes by taxi from the clinic and well connected across Tyne & Wear.
By Bus 🚌
There are frequent bus services along the A1231 Washington Highway, with stops located a short walk from Baird Close, connecting the clinic to Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle and surrounding Washington areas.
